Brilliant!

You are such the clever dude.

:-)

I didn't do any sketching or blogging or much of anything while in Maine. Though Eli did sketch out an "accident" scene involving his two cousins and a mild head injury.

that's cuz vacations are for vacationing and only fools like me make it into "assignments"!

I CAN'T wait to Eli's "accident" pic!... :-D

I love the stories behind all the details in the picture--details I didn't notice right away!

My son's job this summer is working with protected plovers in Nantucket. His crew was going to have police protection on the fourth. He's seen a lot of the "I hate the plovers" attitude when they've had to close beaches.

Thanks for posting this! It was quite fun!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

It was funny to see the people stew about the plovers... one guy braggin' that he was goin' back to such-and-such where "they don't cancel fireworks over some dumb birds!"

Tom had one guy tell him "piping plover taste like chicken". I guess that's a popular bumper sticker.

It's hard to believe what some people will say to a complete stranger.

I just looked at MJ's photos and emailed her a question about the puffins, --should have come 'here' first. So you were on a boat.
And, that inn is gorgeous. Can't even imagine a 'Bates' reference at all!

That's a pretty wild & entertaining drawing Kevin!! So much to look at! Also I'm wondering why you have the words 'actual size' and 'free' plus that Russian symbol on the birds?
And,
finally, after reading about your trip to Pemaquid, I thought it sounded familiar. It occurred to me that it must have been on Cindy's "Department of Tourism" virtual tour. (for those of us headed to MPWA)
I had printed out the map part of it back then, and it clearly shows the date. But just now when I went backwards to try and see the post again, it just said there wasn't a post for that day, even though the calendar says "1". Am I doing something wrong?

First, to answer your art questions:

The ACTUAL SIZE was in reference to the fact that the birds are so small that my puffin illustration on this 8.5"x11" paper may in fact be "actual size"

The FREE ticket in the puffin's beak is my FREE ticket to ride on Hardy Boat Tours on ANY of their tours (puffin, seal, harbor...), ANYTIME! no expiration! so, this time next year or next week or next decade....

The HAMMER and SICKLE on the plover's chest was in reference to how upset some tourists were towards the birds in cancelling their fireworks, you'd think they were "commies"!!!

**************************************************

As to your other question.... WHAT?!?!?!

'splain youself, Lucy!
