![]() The opportunity arose to have a show. A show I could do solo. A show that could include many of the images used in my first self-published art-book, "Ain't gonna hang no pixel—an artist stops painting with paint." A show of the originals. The original colored pencil illustrations of Emily Dickinson in her four seasons series. The original colored pencil on batik painting of Billie Holiday. The original colored pencil on photo collage painting of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley (though the King is not in the book). The original colored pencil illustrations of Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Jack Kerouac, Alfred Hitchcock and Edgar Allan Poe. In fact, the only "originals" image from the book not included in this show is Bette Davis. All these "original" before they were digitally altered as illustrations for this full-colored book. All included in this one show. The problem? It's a show in a bank lobby. With bank hours. And they don't include Saturday. A show that not many folks will see. Not unless you bank there or don't work 'bank hours.' ABOUT THE BOOK: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/a ABOUT THE SHOW: http://www.kslatts.com/slattsshows_.htm | |

Sorry for the "catch." That's disappointing. :(

Will you still do it?
Oh, yes. As the poster indicates, I am doing it presently.July 12 2011, 12:07:44 UTC 10 months ago
It'll be one of many shows, I hope.
I love my copy of AIN'T GONNA HANG NO PIXEL. :-)

That's a mixed blessing, isn't it?
Indeed. But fortunately, there are no new pieces here—so, everything is framed (my note about "Bette Davis missing from the show" is because she's the only piece not framed).
So, in a sense, this show is complete 'no-brainer.' In fact, the nails left on the wall from the last show fit my pieces perfectly—so, it was hung in less than fifteen minutes!
The mixed blessing, indeed, is the fact that these originals from which the book came from (and thank you so much for your compliment—it means a lot to me)—these pieces may never have the opportunity to be displayed together again.
It'll be that rare trivial piece of conversation when I'm famous years after my death. "Did you see 'the Originals' show? I did." gloated the slatts fan.
